Europe and United States Ignore the Persecuted

From Yulia's Website: "Europe is ignoring repression in Ukraine for the sake of business."

Yulia Tymoshenko is disappointed in Europe and its leaders, who once enthusiastically supported the Orange Revolution.

"Now they’re coming to Ukraine and complimenting the stability. Let’s call things by their proper name. In this country they’re killing journalists, crushing justice and suing the opposition. This is graveyard stability," Yulia Tymoshenko said in an interview with the Italian newspaper La Repubblica.

The former prime minister of Ukraine said it is wrong that Europe is turning a blind eye to the criminal persecution of the Ukrainian opposition and destruction of alternative positions. "I would like to see the US and Europe not legitimize this regime too much. I understand that they have their own national interests to protect, but it is unfair that they are signing agreements with Yanukovych and ignoring the repression," she said.

When asked why she thinks the current government is so afraid of her, Yulia Tymoshenko said: "Because those who think Ukraine is a great place to benefit their own personal interests, those who are only concerned with distributing billions of dollars and power within their clan don’t want to hear inconvenient voices. And I am the most inconvenient voice because the people are on my side."
