General Non-Objectivity

We just happened to be listening to the radio this morning, August 10th, and KUOW (National Public Radio in Seattle) just happened to mention the 9th District Metropolitan King County Council race with analysis by a couple of guest journalist commentators. Not that the guest commentators would be neutral journalists in the sense that their partisan biases are not part of their journalistic jobs, but indeed the guest commentators (one from an ultra-radical liberal on-line site and the other from the Times newspaper) have been front and center in the endorsement process being played out in the local King County races, and both of their organizations endorsed the incumbent in the 9th District race. So much for expecting any kind of objective commentary, today. KUOW, incidentally, curiously has not invited candidates from the 9th District, as far we know, to be on their programming thus far, unlike their policy regarding other races in the Seattle area.

So when you hear commentary, in general, about who are credible candidates and who are not, and who are the main candidates as opposed to those on the periphery, just remember that the commentators may have an agenda of whom they would like to see elected, especially if they have been openly involved with the endorsement process. We wonder just how much the media underestimates the intelligence of the public when they present analysis of elections by the endorsers.

At least, you would think that KUOW would have announced who the commentators endorsed in the 9th District council race as part of their truth in broadcasting obligation.
